SISTERHOOD

he Alpha Phi mission statement states: “Alpha Phis enjoy a sincere sisterhood throughout college and in every stage of their lives.”  This is definitely true within our Theta Iota chapter at JMU. By joining any sorority, you gain a support system of sisters who will be there in the good times and in bad. You form life-long friendships, a family away from home. You will always have a study or lunch buddy, someone to walk with you to class, fellow vacation-ers, or roommates. As stated in the creed we are a "shrine of international sisterhood wherein [we] may find love and loyalty, sympathy and understanding, inspiration and opportunity.”  Sisterhood is knowing that you have not one but over one hundred women supporting you throughout your college experience.

Intramurals

Alpha Phi energetically participates in many athletic activities on campus. Last spring Alpha Phi went undefeated among other Greek organizations in intramural volleyball. Alpha Phi is proud to be the reigning champions of both Kappa Alpha’s Philanthropy Rosebowl Volleyball tournament and Sigma Chi’s Dodgeball tournament. Throughout the year Alpha Phi participates in wiffeball, kickball, field days, volleyball, 5ks, and powder-puff football. Many sisters are members of JMU Club sports such as Swimming, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Crew, and Ski/Snowboarding. 

Extracurriculars

Sisters are very involved in Alpha Phi, but they also give back to JMU.  We have representation in a variety of organizations such as First YeaR Orientation Guide, PASS (Peer Assisted Study Session) Leader/Supplemental Instruction, Student Ambassadors, Safe Rides, Outriggers, Student Government Association, Ring Premiere, club sports, and more!  Alpha Phi nurtures personal growth, and sisters are able to bring this forth to other organizations.

SCHOLARSHIP

One of the four pillars of Alpha Phi's standards, scholarship is important to the development of our chapter.  Through our positive incentives program, sisters are rewarded and recognized for academic excellence.  Each semester we continue to set goals and improve as a chapter. A great thing about have 150 plus sisters is that you can always find a study buddy or even a classmate.  Sisters within your majors and concentrations are always there to lend a helping hand.
