JMU Alpha Phi is a strong sisterhood of over 120 dedicated and outstanding women. Through the mutual selection process called recruitment, approximately 40-50 lucky girls join Alpha Phi each fall. These new members exemplify the ideals on which our sorority was founded 135 years ago.
JMU has 9 National Panhellenic Council (NPC) sororities on its campus. In addition to Alpha Phi, JMU is home to Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Kappa Alpha Theta.
Your first step toward joining a sorority at JMU is signing up for recruitment. Formal Recruitment takes place in September of each year. You can register for recruitment with the Office of Fraternity/Sorority Life, typically during the second or third week of the fall semester.
In addition, from time to time, sororities have the opportunity to add to their membership throughout the year by participating in a process called Continuous Open Bidding (COB). If you are interested in learning more about sorority membership, we encourage you to contact the Office of Fraternity/Sorority Life, or our Vice President of Member Recruitment.
